With the subway system working well under capacity, endless traffic jams and hour-long lineups at the pump, the best way to get around the Big Apple these days is by bike.

A New York Times article published today included interviews with a number of people who are discovering commuter cycling because many other modes of transportation are not an option. The residents of NYC featured in the article seemed to really enjoy commuter cycling and might stick to it even after subway service resumes. It’s unfortunate that near apocalyptic conditions are needed to get some people on a bike.
